Eric Hellon is a nationally recognized financial literacy educator, homeownership advocate, and keynote speaker dedicated to helping working families build generational wealth. His mission is to simplify personal finance and make wealth-building strategies accessible – particularly for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities that have historically faced barriers to homeownership and financial opportunity.
For more than two decades, Eric has helped thousands of individuals and families develop practical strategies to improve their financial health, strengthen their credit, prepare for homeownership, and create lasting financial legacies. Rather than simply teaching people how to buy a home, he equips them with the knowledge, confidence, and long-term mindset needed to use homeownership as one tool for building wealth and creating opportunities for future generations.
Eric’s unique perspective is built on an uncommon combination of experience as a licensed Real Estate Broker, Mortgage Loan Officer, Dave Ramsey Certified Master Financial Coach, nonprofit executive, and educator. His ability to connect financial literacy, behavioral change, and real-world homeownership strategies has made him a trusted voice for employers, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and community groups seeking practical solutions to close today’s wealth gap.
As the Executive Director of Homeowner Prep, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization, Eric leads programs that help aspiring homeowners improve their financial readiness and confidently navigate one of the most significant financial decisions of their lives.
Known for his engaging storytelling, actionable advice, and ability to make complex financial topics easy to understand, Eric has inspired audiences ranging from corporate employee resource groups and nonprofit organizations to colleges, churches, and community conferences.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership, and numerous professional certifications, including Dave Ramsey Certified Master Financial Coach. He has served on several nonprofit boards and has helped organizations raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support community initiatives focused on education, housing, and economic mobility.
Whether speaking on financial literacy, homeownership, workplace financial wellness, or generational wealth, Eric’s message remains the same: financial freedom is not reserved for the fortunate – it is built through knowledge, action, and accountability.
